Why Ice Machines Stop Making Ice
The realistic order of causes when a commercial machine stops producing, from most to least common.
Start with water
Closed or partially closed supply taps, blocked filters and failed inlet valves account for a large share of no-ice callouts. A machine that cannot fill cannot freeze, regardless of how healthy the refrigeration is.
Then look at heat rejection
A fouled condenser or dead fan motor causes long cycles and eventually stops usable production. This is the most preventable cause on the list.
Then harvest and controls
If ice forms but never releases, the harvest system or its control is at fault, and the machine will often freeze solid instead of producing loose ice.
Refrigeration last
True refrigeration failures are less common than operators expect. They need qualified diagnosis with gauges, not assumptions.
